Charlie Kirk’s Legacy & Why We Started The Know Buddies 757
In our very first episode of The Know Buddies 757, we opened with a conversation that was deeply personal: the sudden passing of Charlie Kirk. His influence, conviction, and faith inspired us both over the years — and ultimately became one of the sparks for why we launched this podcast.
Honoring Charlie Kirk’s Faith & Influence
From his early years, Charlie Kirk stood out as a bold, articulate voice. Jackie shared how, at just 18, Kirk amazed her with his knowledge and ability to debate respectfully — even with people who disagreed with him.
“I’ve never cried for someone I’ve never met before,” Jackie admitted. They reflected how deeply his death affected them. They both admired the way he held firm in his faith and convictions while still respecting others.
We reflected on how he wasn’t the caricature some painted him to be — not a “bigot” or “racist,” but someone who engaged opponents with honesty and respect. His death left a void, not only for his family and team but also for many who felt inspired by his example.
Free Speech, COVID, and Feeling Shut Down
Our conversation then shifted to why we started The Know Buddies 757. During COVID, we both felt silenced. Whether it was conversations around masks, vaccines, or even just posting online, there was a constant sense of censorship and judgment.
Jackie recalled being yelled at in Costco for how she wore her mask due to sinus issues. Kashmir pointed out how kids — especially in underprivileged communities — suffered lasting setbacks from school closures.
We both felt that saying anything “outside the narrative” came with backlash, ridicule, or being ostracized. That’s when the seed for this podcast was planted: a place for open, respectful, unfiltered conversation.
Personal Stories of Persecution
The episode also explored personal experiences with backlash. From being mocked online for honoring Charlie Kirk to wearing a MAGA shirt and facing hostility in a local store, Jackie described moments that made her question whether to stay silent or speak up. We both felt there is a fine line between being a peacemaker and cowering down.
These experiences only deepened our conviction that The Know Buddies 757 should be a space for honest talk — even if people don’t agree.
Why Politics Became Part of Our Show
The turning point for us was the attempted assassination of Donald Trump. Watching that moment unfold live, we realized how dangerous — and divided — the political climate had become.
It wasn’t just about agreeing or disagreeing with policies. It was about the right to have a voice without fear. That’s when we knew politics had to be part of our conversations.
At the Core: Respect & Listening
Even with our strong convictions, we emphasized that The Know Buddies 757 is not about shutting others down. We listen to opposing voices, and we respect different perspectives.
Because at the end of the day, our podcast is about bringing people together through conversation, not pushing them further apart.
