Myers-Briggs, 16 Personalities & How We Really Work Together

Welcome back to Life Unfiltered!

If you’ve watched us for a while, you know one of our guilty pleasures is…
Personality tests.

This week, we’re breaking down the Myers-Briggs / 16 Personalities test — how it works, what our types are, and how it actually explains a lot about how we host, process emotions, lead, and even clash (in a good way).

Next week, we’ll dive into the Enneagram, but today is all about the four letters that make up your Myers-Briggs type.

Myers-Briggs vs. Enneagram: What’s the Difference?

Before diving into the letters, Jackie & Kashmir explain the basic difference between these two popular tools:

  • Myers-Briggs (MBTI / 16 Personalities)
👉 Focuses on how you behave
👉 Looks at preferences & cognitive functions
👉 Great for understanding communication, teamwork, and career fit
  • Enneagram
👉 Focuses on why you behave the way you do
👉 Explores core fears, motivations, and desires
👉 Great for inner healing, self-awareness & spiritual growth

Myers-Briggs = “How we interact and work together”
Enneagram = “What’s going on underneath the surface”

The Four Letters of Myers-Briggs (Plus a Secret Fifth)

Using sites like 16personalities.com or Truity, you answer questions that sort you along four main spectrums:

1️⃣ Energy: Introvert (I) vs. Extrovert (E)
2️⃣ Mind: Observant (S) vs. Intuitive (N)
3️⃣ Nature: Thinking (T) vs. Feeling (F)
4️⃣ Tactics: Judging (J) vs. Prospecting (P)

And on 16 Personalities, you also get a fifth layer:
5️⃣ Identity: Assertive (-A) vs. Turbulent (-T)

⚡ Energy: Introvert vs. Extrovert

This isn’t about being shy or loud — it’s about where you get your energy.

  • Extroverts (E) recharge by being around people, conversation, activity.
  • Introverts (I) recharge alone or in quieter, more controlled environments.

Jackie & Kashmir both lean extrovert, which is pretty obvious on camera. 😅
But behind the scenes, Kashmir has worked with TV hosts who were actually introverts, even though they seemed “on” and outgoing on screen.

Key reminder:

It’s not about how talkative you are — it’s about where your energy tank gets filled.

🔍 Mind: Observant (S) vs. Intuitive (N)

This is where a lot of people get confused.

  • Observant (S)
    • Very practical and grounded
    • Focused on what is happening now or what has happened
    • Prefer clear facts, concrete details, and what’s tangible
  • Intuitive (N)
    • Imaginative and future-focused
    • Love exploring possibilities, theories & “what if” scenarios
    • Often ask, “What could this become?” instead of just “What is this?”

Jackie & Kashmir both lean Intuitive (N) — which tracks, because:

  • They love talking about what the world could look like in the future
  • They constantly explore meanings, patterns, and possibilities
  • They can rant for a long time about ideas most people never even think about 🤣

💓 Nature: Thinking (T) vs. Feeling (F)

This isn’t “smart vs. emotional” — both can think, both can feel.
It’s about how you make decisions and process situations.

  • Thinking (T)
    • Prioritize logic, fairness, and systems
    • Want decisions to “make sense”
    • Can seem blunt because they focus on what’s most effective
  • Feeling (F)
    • Prioritize people, values, and harmony
    • Ask, “How will this affect others?”
    • Tune into emotional undercurrents in a room

Kashmir → more Thinking (T)
Jackie → more Feeling (F)

Kashmir admits she can go into “task mode” and ignore feelings when something needs to get done. Jackie, on the other hand, often picks up on how people are feeling — like her daughter The Scoop, who is extremely perceptive and emotionally aware.

Together, they balance each other out:

One brings strategy and structure. The other brings empathy and harmony.

📅 Tactics: Judging (J) vs. Prospecting (P)

This axis shapes how you handle planning, structure, and flexibility.

  • Judging (J)
    • Prefer schedules, structure, and clarity
    • Love checklists, deadlines, and closure
    • Like to know “what’s the plan?”
  • Prospecting (P)
    • More flexible and spontaneous
    • Prefer to keep options open
    • Can improvise and pivot quickly

Kashmir is classic J: decisive, organized, likes systems and structure.
She jokes she’s the one who wants a plan, goals, and boxes checked.

She’s worked with a lot of P-types in creative environments — people who jump topics, change directions, and resist rigid structure. Understanding this difference has really helped her not lose her mind in collaborative projects. 😅

👤 Our Types: Commander & Protagonist

Over time (and after taking the test multiple times and being brutally honest with their answers), they’ve landed on:

  • Kashmir → ENTJ-T (“The Commander”)
    • Natural leader
    • Strategic, goal-oriented, loves efficiency
    • Can be blunt or intense if she’s not careful
    • Learned she has to balance truth with tact and grace
  • Jackie → ENFJ-T (“The Protagonist”)
    • Warm, encouraging, purpose-driven
    • Feels called to help, uplift, and lead with heart
    • Values faith, community, and doing what’s right
    • Often plays the “harmonizer” in relationships and teams

Kashmir: “I’ll drag people toward the goal if I’m not careful.”

Jackie: “I’m here to call people higher, but with a lot of love.”

Together they’re a Commander + Protagonist duo — part strategy, part shepherding — and that’s a huge part of why their show works.

👥 Why Personality Tests Can Actually Help

Jackie & Kashmir are clear:
Personality tests shouldn’t box you in or excuse bad behavior.

Instead, they can:

  • Help you understand how you naturally operate
  • Reveal why you clash with certain personalities
  • Show how to better support your spouse, kids, coworkers, or friends
  • Give teams a shared language: “Ohhh, that’s your J talking” or “That’s your F kicking in.”

They even encourage:

  • Small groups
  • Work teams
  • Ministries

…to take personality tests together and talk through the results so you can collaborate better instead of assuming the worst about each other.
